D'oh! I feel a feel for overlooking that. I don't want to say you can't bleed when being flogged, especially since Richard has supernatural strength, but as you said, it would take a long time. I think the most I have heard of bleeding with floggers in bringing blood to the surface in tiny little spots, but definitely nothing where it would be flying across someone's stomach.
