Even jade is said to be omigod sooooo powerful but she has to be dominated and then rescued from her master by Anita and does eff-all herself and is describe as fragile, wounded, etc. <-- Wasn't she the one who was "defeated by sex"? Because if so, she was just recently magically and quite publicly raped. And no one did anything to stop it. THEY ALL JUST WATCHED IT HAPPEN TO HER. OF COURSE she's feeling fragile and wounded. (Also, hateful, hopefully because the good guys suck.)

(Also her defeat of Julia is really creepily rapey, of course, talking about how she straddles her on the floor and "thrust the power into her" and stuff...this is why you're not allowed a real penis, Anita. ...So two rapes out of three were-tiger ladies? Reba really dodged a bullet there.

Anita goes to Nathaniel's bedside and says that in the Circus there are "a series of rooms that had been made into hospital beds". <-- JC probably had to do this because the number of Anita-related casualties who DIED IN TRANSPORT was getting too high. I wonder why it didn't occur to him to put it in any of the above ground circus structures, though. Because, presumably, he has to own the land OVER his lair. (If he didn't, the ACTUAL owner of the land presumably would've evicted him by now.)

"human hospitals didn't always like treating lycanthropes." <-- They may not LIKE it but they HAVE TO act for the public good. It's why a doctor can turn you away for lacking insurance but a hospital can't.

Wait, so your issues isn't so much he tried to kill someone you love so much as he tried to take them from you? I know it's the same thing <-- In another series, it MIGHT be the same thing but in THIS series it's NOT. In this series, the wording is ominous, creepy and reminiscent of murdering someone over the 'prize' in a happy meal. And it's SUPER telling that she doesn't say anything about any of his PERSONALITY traits so much as his PHYSICAL traits that she especially enjoys. And that's HUGE.

Also, what happened to the reason she killed Haven being because of Noel's sacrifice? <-- She doesn't looooove him so it doesn't matter in the long term. Or the short term. Or at all.

"Do you want me to let you be all macho about this?" <-- LKH REALLY doesn't understand what machismo is.

to which he replies that he's sorry he wasn't there to help. see it. There fixed it.

Anita's first priority... even when he's been shot... but for Nathaniel that actually makes sense. <-- I maintain that in ANY better written series, this would just be Nathaniel's OTHER job. He's a street kid, a junkie, and a (former?) whore. It's not beyond him to use his body to get what he wants. In this case, food, shelter, and a bit of kindness. In one of the previous chapter sporks, I detailed how Anita treats Nathaniel no differently than Haven or Augustine treat their Pretty Women. Nathaniel might not be on the streets any more but he still acts like he's working in the world's oldest profession... and from his perspective he might actually be doing so.

There is a knock at the door and Damian comes in. <-- FEEL MY LOVE DAMIEN.

that Damian "had changed into his favorite robe" which is a "Victorian smoking jacket except it came down to his ankles" <-- It's interesting how many men like to cover it up around Anita.

"his red hair was dry". <-- MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL EVER.

"I so wasn't hungry" <-- Anita is nearly thirty years old and NOT from the part of the country that speaks like that. This bit of dialogue is OOC, infantilizing, and not cute.
