Apparently, LKH never heard the common writing maxim that your hero is only as good as your villain. If the antagonist is a complete pushover, why should the reader care if the protagonist wins? Why should the reader find the protagonist impressive?

Seriously. And Reba is really the only physical fight Anita faces in this book. She wards off the MOAD-posessed Belle and Padma by touching her men, and she shoots Haven after other women fight him for her (whereas she actually hides for most of said fight). So it's not as if there's other, more impressive, more challenging fights to make up for it in this regard either.

SHE’S A WERETIGER. The only reason that she’s “weak” is because your author is making her weak on purpose, just so you can stomp all over her and call it justice. Because God forbid you have a fair fight with anyone, especially another woman.
Said weaknesses makes even less sense when one considers weretiger women are supposed to be really tough, that their matriarchy is based on an actual for-real superiority to the males versus a culturally-constructed one, and considering the men are already therians and thus a serious threat, the women should be a really big-time challenge...and then this. I almost wonder if LKH wants to *punish* them for being a matriarchy or something. Because what could be more evil than women who aren't Anita being in power?

Wow, I bet that if a male character savagely beat Anita up and left her for dead, she’d feel really glad that he did just to make a point about how she dared to challenge his authority.
She actually has shown some victim-blaming towards herself before when it came to gross shit being done to her by men, so I actually might be able to see this depending who the guy was (like, if it were Micah or JC).
