This chapter was just so cringeworthy to read. Every line is stereotypical and hackneyed and immature and offensive and stupid. It's so fake that it's ridiculous. Anita and Laila don't come off as characters; they come off as caricatures. Laila is the stereotypical "tough, sassy black woman" whose every line involves a mention of race while Anita is the catty and desperate Exceptional Woman who wails to the reader, "I'm not like those fake, shallow, teeny-weeny Barbies! I'm a real woman! I really am! All this talk about how I'm so much better than them clearly isn't a sign of my thinly-disguised insecurity or inferiority complex or anything like that! I really am better than them! I'm just like you!"
