Okay, so maybe we did - but we went on to become near-pacifists who perfected social democracy. We're kind of like those old guys in samurai movies who were total badasses in their youth but who abandoned their warlike ways to seek spiritual enlightenment. I happen to feel that there is at least some coolness to be found in that. 8)
