Have to wonder if so many people dislike Anita because, in this universe, there's a great number of people with mild ESP. I imagine Anita comes up on many people's private radars as an absolute reeking eldritch abomination, and otherwise-competent people turn into frothing lunatics in her presence because their every subconscious instinct is screaming to get away or kill the beast,
Lol, my RL friend and I discussed an idea very similar to that a while back, except that our idea was gender-specific. We were thinking that maybe the reason so many women turn into such seemingly unreasonable jealous haters when Anita comes on the scene is that ESP is rather common among women in the Anitaverse, and they KNOW that she already hates them for being both too slutty and too prudish, that she's looking for the least little "provocation" to use as a pretext for attacking them (see all the weretiger women), and that she just can't wait to steal their boyfriends, comfort their rapists, blame them for being assaulted ("buyer's remorse"), and brag about being the only woman her misogynist serial killer admirer deems worthy to live.
