About the thing on your rat, don't worry. My dog got one after she had her rabies update. The vet drained it and it looked like blackish, clumpy sand came out. Smelled horrible. I forgot what he said it was, but it never came back even though he said it might. Just make sure you've got it all and cleaned it completely out. (She hated it.)
