I totally agree with you about how all this talk about how happy/so in love Anita is with people is trying to convince the character, and maybe the audience, that it's true. It's LKH's MO to just pronounce things to be true/good/right and everyone's supposed to just accept that at face value, so why should it be any different in this case? I just wish it weren't all so goddamned repetitive.
