In fact, isn’t the act of comforting more commonly seen as “feminine” behavior because it involves nurturing? /
Anita's long-running whiteknight complex. Remember, she doesn't really take care of anyone, she just starts singing 'The White Man's Burden'... figuratively speaking, at any rate. So comforting = creepy paternalistic condescension, which is right up the alley of Anitaverse "dominants".

This is also why Jean-Claude is the one most frequently coddling her and patting her ego, if you want to get even more squicked about their relationship...
