Later in the same book she also called him a "catamount" and I don't know if LKH thinks these are the same thing or she just screwed up the spelling, but....a catamount is another word for a mountain lion. We have a street in my neighborhood called Catamount. I THINK OF THIS EVERY TIME I GO BY THERE. Jean-Claude the cougar!
