A lot of what LKH wrote is pretty much as usual--with "as usual" also meaning it takes her pages of writing to get across even the smallest thing--but the thing with Daven wanting to "play" with the waiter kind of skeeved me. I have worked as waitstaff in the past, but you don't have to have been one to know that they're people. The waiter is doing his (crappy paying, probably with long hours) job. What's a brief and apparently hilarious interlude for Daven and company could be something different for the waiter.
Also, part of waitstaff's job is to smile and be cheerful, patient, and attentive to customers no matter what's going on. I had guys hitting on me, usually in inappropriate ways, because they believed my "for customers" face and voice were genuine for them.
