I AM GETTING A BABY HAMSTER FROM THE SHELTER! HER NAME IS OATMEAL AND I AM BRINGING HER HOME TOMORROW!

In other news I haven't been able to make a new spork this week, I'm busy and not feeling well, but since I've had this character-post ready to go for a few days, please enjoy it until I get a new spork up, which should be by Friday or the weekend. Presenting...the star of Sue vs Sue herself, Lucille van Pelt!

I only have two werecat characters, Cleo Wilson the werelion and Klaus Weber the weretiger. You've met Klaus in SvS as one of the visitors from New York, and Cleo, while she's not appeared yet in person, has been mentioned in passing in it as well, and I plan for her to show up later to help save the St.Louis werelions and take them back to her Pride, though I'll need to work to make a situation where she thinks that risk is worth taking (since doing so would draw the attention of Anita & Co to her Pride, which she quite understandably doesn't want!)

They're both very majestic, powerful people, both in personality and in terms of physical strength/supernatural power, and thus they're not the main characters in my novel but instead are people who the protagonists (all teenage humans) encounter as they learn more about the supernatural communities. Cleo is an ally, but one that they have to earn, since while she's a hero to her people who will do anything for them, she's not going to go out of her way to aid anyone else when it could mean anything bad might come back to her Pride's doorstep as a result. If she can help a bunch of clueless kids out and not have it interfere with Pride business, she'll do it though, but it probably won't end up as simple as that when I write it. Klaus will end up as a reluctant guide/mentor regarding the therian communities due to accidentally ending up responsible for them, possibly because he infects one or something like that. They're both good people, they just also need reason to get involved with strangers, especially when they might have to risk their life or the lives of the people they're already responsible for, because, shocking as this may seem, they have lives and motivations and stories of their own and don't know they are characters in a story and thus are not immediately aware they're supposed to drop everything for Our Heroes. Crazy, right? The fourth wall is actually there!

....sorry, I'm just fed up with that aspect of Anita, among many many MANY others. Anyway, Klaus Cleo, everybody!

The Werecats )

All three of them are human teenagers in my original urban (well, suburban) fantasy story, but for the purposes of AB roleplay I made them wererats who are in their early twenties, since that's in the age range most roleplay characters are (in my experience) and it lets them be independent from their parents, stay out late, go to bars, and generally have more opportunities to interact with others, as well as gives them time to have gotten their therianthropy under control (each of them contracted it at the same age that they are in my stories, which lets me remember it easily).

Max and Eva are easily among the nicest, most moral, and least flawed people of my cast, plus most of their problems are not their fault, but I think they're interesting and well-executed enough to not be Mary Sues so much as average protagonists, even with Max's above-average ass-kicking skills. Plus not everyone can be dark and gritty and fucked-up and gothitty, right? They also are really stereotypical for the respective spots on the LGBT spectrum they represent--butch lesbian who is good at mechanic and home repair, super-girly heterosexual transgender woman--but the problem with those particuliar stereotypes (not *all* stereotypes, mind you) isn't anything in themselves, but that they're used in a negative way, as a joke, or as all there is to the characters with those traits, and that's not the case with how I write Eva and Max

In my original stories, Max and Eva and MJ, along with another girl named Abigail, are the protagonists in one of my would-be novels (the one I'm working on right now) and they're basically kinda the Scooby Gang from Buffy---kids protecting their hometown from monsters. Not the most original setting, I grant, but I maintain that it isn't always the idea sometimes so much as what you do with it! Hell, LKH is proof of that *eyeroll* Anyway...my wererats, everybody!

(NOTE: If you read nothing else in this post, read the ROLEPLAY section, that's where the lulz is, the rest is kinda sad fyi)

You've met the weresnake Sati in Sue vs Sue, and I plan to one day have her be the protagonist it one of my novels. See, I hope to write many books all about the same 'verse, with a series of different protagonists and casts that all eventually intersect. Big goals, I know. I picked Sati to be one of these protagonists because of how much she has to grow from, to improve upon, and in a way that I specifically can understand and empathize with really well (and thus can probably write well/accurately, at least I hope). Her character was inspired by (and created during) the early stage of my recovery from depression when I was still really vulnerable, lost, struggling with my identity because I'd become so engulfed in my mental illness that I didn't know who was without it, when I had just gotten on my feet but was not guaranteed to stay there. Sati's in a similar place, plus she's a supernatural living in a world full of shifters, vampires, and other creatures, whether it's the Anitaverse or my original storyverse, and she'll have to find her internal strength--which she does have, and a great deal more than she realizes--to navigate the external adventures she'll be having in this fantastic world of hers! That's the idea, anyway. And this is the girl:

One night I was playing around with this dollmaker
http://www.dolldivine.com/vampire-maker.php
And I came out with a dark-skinned fellow who had yellow eyes and white dreadlocks. I really liked this look, so I decided to draw him. In drawing him, I couldn't help thinking up a thing or two about him. That led to me giving him a name, Cornelius, and drawing him again, which led to more thinking about him. Eventually, he started fleshing out more, and I made plans to make him a character in roleplay and writing. Since most of the vampires in roleplay (and the vampires in my own writing) start as humans and don't undergo pigment change (beyond, uh, turning white in Twilight and VC 0_o) he got normal human-type pigmentation of black hair and brown eyes, and then I started on a background for him, and, well, here he is!

Cornelius "Adze" Locke, everyone!

After Ruthven, Delilah, and Gaspard, these are the biggest players in the Ruthven/Swans/Delilah plotline. And they are at a mostly reasonable length instead of the books I posted for the aforementioned previous three, haha!

So, uh, this is another doozy, with lots of bullet points and a big copy-pasted profile, and I am so sorry. One day I'll learn how to crunch these things. In the meantime...

Hello all! The viewing was yesterday and that went just fine. The funeral will be today. For now though, we're about to go out to lunch. We visited a park earlier and watched some people go white-water rafting...Dad said Boo could hang by his tail from the bridge like a possum and snatch people up from the rafts as they went under! "Nobody would notice the kid in the back was missing until they got to shore...and then they'd see a little life jacket come floating down and the guide would tell them there's no refunds if a rat eats somebody."

Speaking of rats, I loved the suggestions you all had about wererats and buck grease!

I am doing well and so is my family, thanks to everybody for the well-wishes they sent! You're all great =D

I don't have a new spork just yet and probably won't until Monday or later, but in the meantime here is another post about one of my characters, Gaspard Glass! If you like what you see, Gaspard has a tumblr! Mostly swords, suits, and swans. And lots and lots of Tilda Swinton and David Bowie

Odette and Odile also have tumblrs!

Oh, this fucker. He started as just a name in the background of the English swanmane refugees in an AB roleplay group I was in, just an NPC villain from the past of my rebel leader swan, but like so many characters of mine, he started to grow beyond what I needed for that, to the point I'm going to transfer him to my own stories as a major villain (I'm the one who created him and said background for the English swans, so the rest of my group is okay with me keeping the creative rights to him, they're super cool people like that).

Anyway. Lord Ruthven Strongmore is an Earthmover-line vampire who can call swans, and as a result rules over all the swanmanes in England. We've seen a lot of MotCs in the series who rule over the therian counterparts of their respective animals to call, but England is a whole damn country, albeit a small one, so he's meant to be a really damn powerful vamp. Of course, said canon MotCs limits to just therians in their cities probably also has a lot to do with the fact that MotCs in other cities won't have them controlling the therians in theirs, so there's that too, but I digress. Point is, Ruthven is a Big Bad tier dude, and he can also call earthquakes like Mr. Oliver. The fact he controls the ground but also summons something that flies is kind of...incongruous, I guess...but last I checked there's no implication in canon that your animal to call has to somehow complement your bloodline. Plus this means I will one day get to use some wonderfully dramatic line about how he can control "Heaven and Earth" or something like that, and I live for that kind of cheese.

I got enough votes saying they'd like to see my characters, so here's three for a start! Armel, Lucretia, and Otto "Mesmer" Lambert.

These are comparatively minor ones, ones who I've never had to get into their head and histories too much (which isn't to say I don't ever plan to--my backgrounders always seem to evolve despite their origins!) and that's why I was able to type them up pretty fast and post them all together.

There are two major storylines that most of the Anitaverse chars fit into, some into both. There's the Ruthven/Swans/Delilah storyline, and the New York storyline. New York is where almost everyone is, because that's where the roleplay was that spawned most of them. Normally I'd pick somewhere other than the Big Apple, because I've never even been there, but somehow they all 'fit' there in my head, and since it's not like I'm going to publish this I try not to sweat potential inaccuracies about the city too much. The New York storyline is just the various jumbled politics and lives of the supernaturals there. The Ruthven/Swans/Delilah storyline is much more specific, and concerns the enslavement of the English swanmanes by Ruthven, the refugee rebels in New York, and the creation of Delilah in Ruthven's labs. This is partly in New York where Delilah and said rebels now are, partly on a moor of unspecified location in England (probably somewhere in the Pennines, the possibly West Pennine Moors) where Ruthven and the English swans are.

Armel is part of the NYC plots, Lucretia part of the R/S/D plots, and Mesmer...I don't know yet.
