what color it might have been when he was little I never read this book, and that sounds SO familiar. Is it something she wonders about consistently throughout the books when she's fetishizing discussing her lovers' hair?
would those really look so unusual in a human as to be a definite sign of being a supernatural? From the pictures of leopards you linked to, the main difference seems to be that leopards have little to no visible whites in their eyes. Maybe that's supposed to be what stands out about Micah's? I'd think that would be noticeable, though maybe not something that would stick out at a glance.
Yeah, Anita should be WELL in control of herself by now, since she's been with Micah two years and he's been around since she first started collected strains of therianthropy. Maybe if she ever ACTUALLY HAD TO SHIFT instead of the bullshit "I have all the powers with none of the downsides! Except for the downside where all the men want to sleep with me, tee hee!"
if I had been in a relationship for almost six years with someone, I would be damn well fed up with them if they were still saying I couldn't possibly be in love with them. I can only assume it's meant to be a sign of Anita's amazing modesty and/or lingering self-esteem issues. Ugh. I'd be fed up with that, too. I wish he'd yell at her for it. It would be so nice to get a single moment of legitimate character stuff from these books. Like, he gets pissed and calls her on it, she is maybe defensive for a bit but then sees his point and vows to work on it? We could even see her struggling with it, like she starts to say "I can't believe you love me" but changes it to "I feel really lucky that you love me" or something else that doesn't seem to be fishing for compliments/reassurance.
Oh wait, that would mean Anita would have to be imperfect and actually make steps toward changing her behavior. Never mind.
Also, apple cart? Is that a real saying? There's a real saying about not upsetting the apple cart. Anita's...not really using it. I think this is LKH trying to be clever (and not particularly succeeding; I mean, she's certainly written dumber stuff, but I found this a little cutesy and it didn't really work for me).
