I don't even read porn and I think I could do better too. What also bothers me is that it didn't start off as porn. It changed. If you're going to have a porn series, have a porn series from the start. People who got into Anita Blake for what it originally was have no reason to want the entire genre and focus of the series to shift. If people want porn, they'll get a damn porn book, not something that's supposed to be a paranormal thriller.
This is why I don't mind her Merry Gentry series. Although I have not read it (I may pick it up one day), I have no issue with its plot. That should have been her sex series. I didn't even mind having some sex in Anita Blake, but when it became the focus, I'm sorry, but this is not what I signed up for. Granted, I still don't think I would have minded as much if the series had an actual plot and well written characters.
