MOAD should be so much more badass and terrifying than she is. I got really annoyed with LKH over the whole "whenever she appears, Anita smells jasmine" thing because I did something similar (before her!) in one of my books, where the appearance/presence of the Big Bad would be accompanied by the smell of lilies, and it got to the point where the heroine would break out in the shakes at the mere sight of them. I thought it could be a great psychological ploy in the AB books - Anita smells jasmine perfume - is this woman possessed by the MOAD or is Anita just paranoid? What risks does she take to find out? etc. But of course, LKH didn't explore it that way and then in Hit List it all becomes irrelevant anyway. >:(
