Last Pureblooded Blue Tiger... but she's fighting for her life alongside her master and so Cynric may indeed soon be the last blue tiger left in the world because Anita needs all the rarest shinies Also, she's a non-Anita woman. She isn't allowed to be competent, badass, or successful.
Cynric is also never referred to by name in this spiel but only as a "boy" and a "teenager". Ugh. Because we need to be reminded of that. But his youth is the whole reason that he's part of the narrative!
Anita brings up black tigers This whole boring State of the Tigers address is SOOOO much more interesting than that vamp master rampaging in Atlanta. Really.
"because I had let him go when I could have turned him over to the police, or just kept him." I admit, I don't remember Sebastian but what is with her, the supposed LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, deliberately LETTING ALL THE CRIMINALS GO?! That's not what LEOs are paid to do! (Of course, they're also not supposed to keep an unwilling stable of sex slaves in their basement either so, yeah, she crossed the line awhile ago.) It's like no one ever told Anita/LKH that just because something is an option doesn't mean that it's an option that you (or any sane, semi-decent person) should take. Additionally, she has no right to expect everyone she ever meets to bare all their deep, dark secrets to her. Not everything is her business!
Anita demands that he "tell me who's on our side and who isn't" Why would he KNOW this? And why doesn't anyone ever LIE to anyone, ever, in this series? Or change their mind?
a male gold tiger and his master "have agreed to be on your side if we can prove to them that you can be Master of Tigers." I... am not certain why the tigers themselves would want to be enslaved by ANYONE, much less someone like Anita. Additionally, I'm not certain why THEY aren't trying to kill her on general principle. And, if they have to have a master, why can't it be someone that they choose and elect to power? Or, say, another tiger.
"Funny you should ask" LKH shouldn't be allowed to use this phrase. It's a bit worn around the edges and whatever she says is funny really, really isn't.
explains that when the MOAD declared the gold tigers destroyed, some of the Harlequin hid a few How would someone who infects her minions' brains have missed this? It would've been better if there were a few bastard golden tigers who have a super secret society.
"Or a sexual sadist." What, because she isn't one? (And worse.) And I'd argue that Anita really does get off on causing others horrific amounts of truly harmful, non-consensual pain because she certainly likes to make people do things that hurt or disgust them in ways that they won't enjoy. If it isn't going to be genuinely hurtful or disgusting to at least one of her partners, she doesn't want to do it. (Richard having sex with men, Asher having sex with her, Nick's lobotomy, JC having sex with her and Asher at the same time, London & Nick & various other characters' forced addictions to her, etc.) Unlike Valentina, Anita DOES go directly for the things that will most hurt the person that she 'loves' -- Asher's self image issues, Jean-Claude's sexual past, Richard's sexual preferences, etc. And she enjoys their attempts to twist and wriggle free of the situations that she puts them in, especially since they won't escape her.
After all, isn't that what Jeffrey Dahmer tried to do? I don't know. Wasn't he a cannibal?
