IRL, women are less likely than men to be violently abusive, and even when women are violently abusive, they're less likely than men to escalate to more extreme forms of violence that do long-lasting, visible damage to their victims (like taking out an eye). But LKH's internalized misogyny and horizontal misogyny are the most intense I've ever seen from any female writer. It really seems like she can't stand to think there might be any aspect of character or behavior in which what's typical of women is not much, much worse than what's more typical of men.
