Ugh.

What I dislike most about this chapter is the evidence that LKH wouldn't be able to have Anita say no to Asher, no matter how badly she wanted to do so or how many good reasons she had to do just that, without Yiyu acting as her Poor Traumatized Lesbian Excuse. And, as a bonus? It keeps her from actually having to do anything in bed with the icky girl, while tee-heeing that she MIGHT have if only mean ol' Asher hadn't scared her off!

All the men are Anita's tools, but LKH is never so blatant about it as she is with Yiyu. Probably because she likes to PRETEND the men have free will even when they obviously don't (see: all the pretended concern for what Nicky wants), but she actively likes to pretend that Yiyu DOESN'T and is at the mercy of her ~traumas~ even when she clearly ISN'T.

I'm not going to lie: for all that the gender dynamics in these stories NORMALLY disturb me, Yiyu just feels ten times worse. I don't know why. Maybe because there's not even any pretense that this isn't LKH's fantasy about dominating and alternately white-knighting and abusing people who are too frightened and too traumatized to say no.
